TIFF is one of the most popular and flexible of the current public domain file formats. It
offers a highly flexible and platform-independent format supported by numerous image
processing applications.
TIFF was developed by Aldus and Microsoft Corp. Adobe Systems now holds the
copyright for the TIFF specification. TIFF/JPEG, aka TIFF 6.0, is an extension of the
Aldus TIFF format.
